channel switching in a 3 or more channel amp

Post by idnotbe »

after searching a little bit, i noticed many 3 channel amps use 2 relays for the channel switching.

1st relay : CH1 (clean) <-> CH2/3 (dirty channels)
2nd relay : CH2 <-> CH3, when the 1st relay selects CH2/3

but it is somewhat weird, because the player will regard the 3 channels as triple parallel.
and some complicated amps have 4 or even 6 channels in one amp.

so, i wonder... what's the best way to implement 3 or more channels in parallel in one amp?

A small Arduino or similar programmable computer would do the trick. It can control any number of relays using any number of foot switches.
I build and repair tube amps. http://amps.monkeymatic.com
