Simple switching, no bleed from channels, cost, no need to paint the vactrols with nail polish lol, nail polish is expensive you know :D and with the relays it's pretty easy to implement MIDI with soft touch momentary switches, which I have been thinking about doing with mine eventually.

I like to design things so that parts are easily available and not obsolete, and have a long term supply chain if that makes sense. even looking at our faithful impedance selector that is somewhat of a hard commodity to come by these days is a good example
