Does anyone recognize this amp design?

Post by VolkerStaub »

hi folks,

there's an amp on craiglists that I first thought could be a Dumble OD style clone.
Now the seller sent me a gut shot which leaves me clueless..
I know it's a big mess but maybe anyone recognizes the circuit/layout.
It has 3x ECC83 tubes for the preamp, 1x ECC81 for the reverb it seems and 2x 6L6 for the output.
Frontpanel is also reminiscent of Dumble.
What do you think? Any help is welcome.

value = 1/10 only for the speaker, maybe transformers too (1.5/10) all the rest in the garbage bin

Well it’s got very hard to find knobs from a Heathkit from what I can tell.

It’s got a T03 cased transistor mounted near the fuses so I would have to assume it’s DC powered heaters.

It looks like it’s got a old paper cased filter in there and 2 other filters that could be old and out of a Highwatt or a sound city .

It looks like it’s got some old box type color dot signal caps in there also.

The speaker is worth 100 bucks, the cab is nice.

What brand tubes does it have in it?
You never know it might sound great.

All of the caps look West German. Think I spot F&T, Siemens, Frako. I wonder why they put the power tubes by the input and the preamp tubes in the middle?

I would say its a homebrew, with some later modifications maybe from the seventies if I look at the components.

I love the "mystery switches". No other fonts were available, maybe, huh?
Just plug it in, man.

It is a mess inside, but I think it looks fantastic.

The chassis I would say is not a one of since the nuts that will tie it up into the cabinet are tack welled in, so the amp started life as something else.
