Has anyone else seen these? I ordered one for my next build:

I saw something similar here:

but haven't tried it myself.
Let me know how yours work out.

Its a shame to hide that cute little tube inside the chassis

The Riot Devices FX loop looks interesting. Where can you order one? All I can find for them is a facebook page.

I don't have a facebook account. Does he have an old-fashioned email address?

Hello all,
And thank you Dustin for you kind words. Yes, that is my personal e-mail. Our site is a little bit down now but we can be contacted trough that e-mail.
@arjepsen indeed TT has also a version of a submini fxloop, we found that 6n17b sounds much better then the 6112 (or 6121 ... i don't remember what they are using) and also it has a much longer life (the 6N17B is a military tube that was used in MIG fighters)
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us here on the forum or trough e-mail.
Best regards.
Gabriel Tudoran

Re: Merlin's Practical Serial Effects Loop layout
I installed the loop using a 12AT7 from Merlin's book p. 266. But I only use the recovery stage now. I attenuate from the wiper of the treble pot 1M to the 25K pot that replaces the original 1Meg MV pot. From the wiper of the 25K straight to the send. I left a 100 ohm to the tip of the send. The return jack then goes to the recovery stage exactly as shown in Merlin's book. Here are some pics:

Re: Merlin's Practical Serial Effects Loop layout
I am planning on using Merlin's effects loop in a Small Special (same loop from page 219).
For placement of the loop, Merlin's description says... "typically between the tone stack and Master Volume in a Marshall-style topology", but there seem to be other choices.
So, should the loop go directly in front of the master volume pot?
Or should it go between the Master pot and the 97K resistor,
or between the 97K resistor and the .001 uf Cap at the entrance to the PI?.
Or is there a better location to insert the loop? I'm not really clear on this. Thanks.

Re: Merlin's Practical Serial Effects Loop layout
I would expect the MV to scale the entire volume of the amp, INCLUDING the FX, so I would place the loop just prior to the MV.

Re: Merlin's Practical Serial Effects Loop layout
Thanks xtian. Would you omit the 10K pot that you used in your layout, or leave that in place?
Re: Merlin's Practical Serial Effects Loop layout
The send control was Martin’s suggestion. I’d keep it. It’s nice to have there.

Will do, and thanks for the advice.
Re: Merlin's Practical Serial Effects Loop layout
Don't forget to add a coupling cap off the V1B plate. Your schematic doesn't show it.
