Suppose I have a JJ can cap that is a 100uf/500v x 2 with a single ground lug. Can I make a series connection by connecting one of the 100uf lugs to the ground lug, and using the other 100uf connection as the source for for 50uf/1000v ?
Does this make the dual can cap into a single 50uf/1000v can?
Thank You

In order to series two caps you need to connect one of the positive legs to the other caps negative terminal. Since both caps inside the can have their negative sides tied together, what you propose won't work

Yeah, thanks, I knew I was trying to get away with murder. Am replacing the E-Caps on a Ampeg V4B. Trying to work with modern day, can cap configurations that will allow for the more than 500V supply. I will get it figured out.UR12 wrote:No That won't workhired hand wrote:Suppose I have a JJ can cap that is a 100uf/500v x 2 with a single ground lug.
