I just bought two of these tubes on the internet and understand they are a variant of 12AX7. I also understand they have a different pin configuration though. Its a little bit of a gamble on my part. I might have hit the jackpot or bust...
Googled a bit but could not find much on these tubes. I am planning to build a simple converter using a socket or something so that I can use these tubes in my amps in place of regular 12AX7s. Anyone have any information or experience using these tubes?
Thanks in advance. All the best.

Just after posting this I found something on fleabay which I think is the adapter I was thinking of building. If you have the time could you please take a look at this and let me know what you think? Thanks!

Re: E283CC Siemens NOS pinout ?
Those tubes seem similar to 12ax7's but the pinout is different.
To use them in an amplifier built for 12ax7's you will have to rewire the sockets for them to operate correctly.
The heaters on this tube are pins 4 & 5 @ 6.3v
Not sure I would go to the expense of the adapters.
I would probably rewire a tube socket then listen to the tube.
If it were me I wouldn't even bother with these tubes unless you can get a quantity of them for cheap.
Otherwise it doesn't seem worth the hassle.

Hmmm, IMO you should use a dedicated socket and wire the shield straight to the chassis.I am planning to build a simple converter using a socket or something so that I can use these tubes in my amps in place of regular 12AX7s.
