twin bias

Post by Andy Le Blanc »

Any one try to cathode bias a twin with a single resistor?

Value? Wattage? with 4 x 6L6-GC that's 140w total plate/G2 dissipation

The nearest I have seen to that is the 80W Budda amp. I think it was a 50W resistor, I could be wrong. Might have been 80W. Cathode to ground voltage is way less than plate or screen.

I had forgotten about budda's, did some work in one some years back.
I remember it was a pcb with the power side hand wired, over rated cathode resistor.
50w sounds like I remember. At worst, 140w at 470v is around 1/3 of a amp.

25w is well shy of twice the watts of that much current at bias voltages.
