Wow!
That is a beautiful, old, piece of equipment. How did you come by it?

Man, where in the world did you find that?
That is uber cool!

Quad of 6V6.

What size is the speaker?

Very cool find! :D

An antiques dealer keeps me busy..... this came out of W. Mass.

Here's the separate spk. cab.. 12" field coil, real clean, the voice coil and field check out OK.

I tried to get a shot of the spider assembly, be nice if eminence speakers were
that practical, I'm also surprised weber hasn't a period correct model, there's
another niche someone will pick up,

It's acting like there's a heavy current draw in the power side, really hot rectifier.

Bad tube..... bad filter cap.... I'll see tomorrow.... could be completely wrong too.

It played fresh out of the closet for about 20- 45min then poo.....
Dried out caps I'm assuming.... power side first anyways...

I couldn't resist...

dis-assembly is a little precarious, had to lay it on its side, get top and bottom unit at the same time.

found some juicy clues leading to .... a bad cap

Many times with closet pieces you have to fix the reason it was in closet in the first place.

In storage for forty years because of one bad cap or solder join.

Just can't get over how gorgeous that thing is, and the ex-speaker as well........
That needs to be gigged, in a classy road house, by a good Tele player....

The 6v6's are biased thru the filaments of the pre amp tubes.

Still trying in nail the inverter. Old radio point to point makes the eye's swim.

Buffer stage after the inverter has a bad bias resistor, most of the amps illness.

Getting there..... here's a quick schematic of the inverter and buffer....

It's close to a 4 x 6v6 dano .... buffer and filament bias.....

It's the radio build style that's the hard part, The amp is relatively simple.

The visual layout is intimidating, complicated package.

The bias resistor is the pre tube filaments in the upper chassis, it dont make
any sense looking at it.

Got most of its issue's found, have to ask the owner if he want's to get the tremolo going.

scratch one of 68k on the feedback....

Alas, he only wants to say it's in playable shape, not gonna get to the tremolo.

Here some pict's of the lower unit. The big blue turds are the repair, this is not a restoration.
The next guy might want to do the restoration, so you can't hide the repair, it has to stand out.

It's not as bad as some I've been in, some old dano's really do look like a bird's nest.

Hopefully the inverter and buffer scheme will help someone along the way.
I don't think there's another out there.

The package is the feature of this amp, the entire amp is shaped by it.

Here's the upper unit.... I'm kinda bummed..... There's a budget for everything.
I might not get the chance to reverse engineer the top. I'd like to hold on to
it for few more days but I need to budget too.

The pre's are zero bias 12ax7, and I'm assuming one gain stage of the 12ax7
is gonna be for the trem oscillator which leaves two 12au7 (4 gain stages)
for tone controls and mix. There are inductors attached to the tone filters
which leads me to think it's more sophisticated than the number of knobs let on.
