lead dress UNDER the glass
I'm a virgo, and I love neat wiring. Look at this Mad Professor job:

I can't get my brain around how this is done. Do they have a shop template so they can attach all the wires to the bottom of the board first, with all the wires the right length and bent exactly so, and then set the finished, wired board into the chassis and solder all the connections?
I guess this would be a bad choice for an experimenter like me, because you could never again access the bottom of the board without unsoldering a lot of wires.
Comments on this style of attaching to the under side of the board?

Looks can be deceiving.
It is spic and span though.
Check out some Highwatt amps gut shots some time.

Re: lead dress UNDER the glass
Pretty. Whose work is it?
I understand that classic Hiwatts were wired on some sort of form and tested before installed in a chassis. That's supposed to help on getting the lead dress so uniform and neat looking.

Re: lead dress UNDER the glass
wire the cards with the wire cut to length.
the trick is to build from the chassis up.
visualize the layers.
90degree wiring is mil spec.

beautiful work. always wondered what it looked like form the inside.
i'll go on record here to say that the mad professor (the very first model they made) is the best amp i've heard and played, bar none. hats off to scandinavia.

What is the switch (?) in the lower left corner of the picture in the original post?
What amp is this?

Looks like he bypasses all the electrolytics with film caps , hifi stuff.
All the MadProfessor products I have tried sounded superior. Never seen the insides before.

Love this one. Amazing work in a limited space... Not affiliated in any way. Just an admirer.

There are some great mp3 clips here too, http://www.mpamp.com/amp/tone.htmlflood wrote:the switch is the power suck attenuator, i believe.

Listen to Olli Siikanen, one of Finland's finest guitarists, I have seen him live a few times. A great Texas sound in "Some Tears From The Sky" and "Hard Time In Texas!"

Sorry for the OT but here is IMHO a fine fellow country man playing not so usual guitar style and sounds http://vimeo.com/2817094rogb wrote:There are some great mp3 clips here too, http://www.mpamp.com/amp/tone.htmlflood wrote:the switch is the power suck attenuator, i believe.
