Geez, that is bad!

I hate that crap. Do they really think they will get people to buy or click on those links?

Yeah, he made a post saying he was suspending membership until he can get it sorted out.

Somewhat related...
Weber Forum site is being reported as an attack site.
TA sent me a reply saying that they are working on it.

I have not been able to visit in a month or more.

Related some more: Is Ampgarage sufficiently backed up that it will survive a similar attack?

I'm concerned about the schematic and layout archives.

I think Allyn and Omar are tech savvy and on top of any attack! :)

Yeah, it seems that this forum is really well managed.

18watt.com on the other hand has been wrecked. They've suffered numerous, crippling attacks that has destroyed a lot of history. Almost all (valuable) attachments have been removed from old posts, the database gets rolled back to a week prior to each attack (three in the last six months or so) and HTML and quoting functions are even not working as they should be. It's a real shame.

I wish hackers when caught would get caned on television and I mean caned...oh, and then prosecuted and sent to prison to be someone's b!tch for a few years. I rate hackers up there with those ------g cowards in Al Qaeda.

Will all hackers please stand in front of the gun:

I did a lot of hacking in my youth, about 10 years ago now the internet was a lot less secure and easier bait back then, I'd be lost these days.

I never did anything malicious apart from put some homosexual porn on a friends pc when his dad was using it, I actually got the crap beaten out of me for it a few days later.

wasted youth.. should of focused my intelligence and talent on something useful like getting a decent education, although I did end up with a Degree eventually at 25.

Hi James,

That's hilarious (and probably worth the beating)
I confess my fascination with "hacking" as a youth was limited to programming in the 8 and 16-bit world in pascal, basic, and some assembly. We thought War Games was a pretty cool movie (for its time) and thought we were all pretty clever. Nowadays, my IF/THEN statements are limited to Excel.

But nothing I ever did (or even envisioned) could remotely be defined as "malicious". Certainly not like today's viruses which bring down networks or identity theft. Our idea of hacking was piracy of a stupid game or stealing Metro/Sprint calling codes so we could dial long distance BBSs for free on our Hayes Smartmodem 400s. Stupid kid stuff.

These pricks have nothing better to do. Attacking an amp builder's forum? Just malicious sociopathic behavior for the sake of it. Worse yet is people who get their whole lives stolen only to have to foot the entire bill to reclaim their good name. Just a big drain on the world, hurting people who work hard and want to be left in peace.

That's why I put it up there (almost) with terrorism.

Computers as a youth oh you mean my fingers and toes as well as my pencil and paper. :)

Had a Commodore 64 in my late 20's. While attending engineering college I had to fight to get on the only computer to do my home work, Cobalt and Fortran.

Funny you mention the Commodore 64 Mark. I had a variety of Apples (Motorola 8-bit 65CO2 processors!) and an Atari 1040ST. Great machines for the time.
