Thank you all so much for offering these great lists. Someone asked "why are we doing this" in an earlier post. I originally posed the question to get an idea about which circuits are the most respected and used in the live field, and the recording field. My thought behind it was to find the best of the best and study the schematics for those particular circuits to see what traits they shared (if any). Hoping to gain knowledge of "proven" techniques and gain stage arrangements. The more I read and experiment, I am finding that although all the circuits are somewhat different, most are carbon copies of a prior amp of some sort. From what I can see, you can only vary from the design values very slightly before things start sounding bad. I have Merlin's book on the way for Christmas. So much more to learn. I do appreciate the great replies.

Just got his books. A brief scan opened my eyes to the depth of my ignorance  A lot to digest.

I think I really only need 2, an AC30 top boost channel only (i.e., a TW Rocket) and a 5E3!

There were only two that stood out with this criteria.
A late '60's AC30 and a first run TwoRock E50.
Both these amp heads had magical overtones that no other amp had possessed (class A or A/B). Holy Grails on to their own. I always have held these two in high regard, and always listen for ones that have these blooming harmonics. Everything was just right; component's, voltages, circuit, values, tubes... the sum of all it's parts.
Do any of you own, built, or have had an amp; that has, or has heard this fairy dust ? You would know it if you heard it within your hands.

All you guys with such great great amps.
A $100 guitar would sound like a million bucks through these majestic amps, and not the other way around.

Cheers guys,
