Re: SRZ 6545
How about just a SRZ 65?
That's what I'm really after.

Re: SRZ 6545
I haven't seen any schematics or layouts for either amp only chassis gut shots.
Re: SRZ 6545
have you seen these pics? http://www.amparchives.com/album/Dr.%20 ... Innen.html
you can see quite a bit, but not enough to draw a schem. any other pictures than these? i wanna say the 65 channel is something like a jcm 800 with TMB stack, pre-PI master, and no NFB.

Re: SRZ 6545
It's basically a KT45 preamp combined with an SRZ preamp into a fixed bias EL34 power section. From what I have seen from a gut shot of the SRZ the preamp is basically Marshall 2203/04.
Wow - that was post no. 500.

Re: SRZ 6545
I do not have a schem, but I do own a SRZ65L. I can take as many gut shots as you want.....if that would be any help.

I have to open the "Phineas J Whoopie" closet......so give me a day or two.
Back soon with the pics
Re: SRZ 6545
OK, before I post these pics, let me just say that.....I must be the biggest hypocrite in the World. I have down-loaded and copied as many schematics as anybody else on the INTERNET. But, when it came time for me to reciprocate, and post pics of a professional builders amp guts, I started to feel guilty.
So, with all do Respect to Mike Zaite, and TAG.....these are the guts of my SRZ 65L. I hope it is a help to the amateur, non-professional builders on the forum.
Thank You
the multi cap is a 32-32-500. the rectifier is a GZ34 (a Sovtek that is still ticking but I am not sure what to think of the little guy)

Re: SRZ 6545
don't feel bad, this isn't Mr. Zaite's circuit, it's Jim Marshall's
Re: SRZ 6545
And I'm really not trying to hate too hard, but this made me LOL. From the website:
"The SRZ-65 is one of Dr Z's first designs going back 20 years. This amp was ahead of it’s time"
"The SRZ-65 is one of Dr Z's first designs going back 20 years. This amp was ahead of it’s time"
Re: SRZ 6545
Well.....that can be said of most amps, including all the ones that get built here. Think of all the AC15 and AC30 "variants" that get discussed.......Gaz wrote:don't feel bad, this isn't Mr. Zaite's circuit, it's Jim Marshall's
More than the circuit itself, is just the feeling of posting internals for the whole world to see and dissect. There are always little tweaks that get scrutinized, like the Xits X10.
Re: SRZ 6545
Yep. 2204 with minor tweaks not worth hiding. Still a great circuit.
Re: SRZ 6545
Yeah, it has the sound/feel of a tube rectified JCM 800.dynaman wrote:Yep. 2204 with minor tweaks not worth hiding. Still a great circuit.
I have been inside a few Z amps, and they all were kind of roomy...."user friendly" so to speak.
I totally get where you guys are coming from. I do not have your knowledge of circuits. I would have to compare one schem to another to be able to see what is a copy-cat of what. But like I said, the circuit is not really the issue. It is the "first time" feeling of gut shooting a builders amp for the purpose of drawing a schematic that feels awkward. Just commenting on a passing emotion.....no harm done.
Thank You
