Re: ESR tester
This is the one I built about 20 years ago when I owned a TV / VCR repair shop. Worked well enough for my needs. I still have it today, just need to put a new battery in it.

I own a Cap Wizard w/ the Saver Circuit. It's great for in-circuit testing. The analog meter is very easy to understand. You can go through an amp in a couple minutes, if it doesn't beep you make a note and find out why. I use the Sencore LC102 for all out of amp capacitor testing.

I use a Sencore too. They are great not just for testing L's and C's but they also can reform your old electrolytics while they test! The switch on the one I have lets you go up to 600V for testing.

Yes it's a very handy feature to bring up NOS caps that have been sitting around.

LC101 - 600V
LC102 - 1000V
LC103 - 1000V plus in circuit testing.
