shane wrote:Hi Folks
I think I spotted a couple of minor errors in the layout drawing.

One of the 68K resistors in the cathodyne should be 1M (the one connected to the top of the 1k8 from the .068).

And the wire from the cathode bias resistor should go to the selector switch not to the EL34 cathodes.

Otherwise an excellent layout thanks!

Cheers
Shane
I don't see where the 1m resistor is used in this PI?

You're right the schematic does indeed show a 68K. My mistake, 'cos its a cathodyne I thought there would be a 1M there. I know its bootstrapped but never seen a value that low in that position.

Probably the 272JX 600vct because I did not find one that was 580vct or 290-0-290 such as a Vox replacement.

The OT is 60w 4k primary

Some very tidy layouts there. But just a minor point - I can see electro. capacitors touching (or almost touching) power resistors. I don't think that's a good idea - even very conservatively rated power resistors still get very hot and that heat will shorten the life of the electro. IMHO. (I know some of the photos I'm referring to are the 'actual Orange' but there you go.)

Hi Mark!
You did a great job! 8) and thank you for the layout and the photos!
I'd like to build this amp but the image quality of the schematic is very low...
Can you repost it with higher resolution?
Is there any video on youtube of your amp?
Greetings from Italy 8) :D

On page 1 of this thread are the layout and schematic and they are high resolution.
If you click on them they open up and expand.

No video or recording of the amp and I took it apart to make something else since I didn't care for it.

Hi Mark!
You can see the problem in that screenshots that i made from my pc:
you are correct for the layout, has a very good resolution (2145x1140).
http://www.mediafire.com/file/m3unb3gkl ... 2.JPG/file

but not the schematic, that has a very poor resolution (799x537) :(
http://www.mediafire.com/file/n17jzmlxa ... 1.JPG/file

I don't know if it's only me with this issue, but this is what i see from my pc.
So, please could you repost the schematic or send me in private? :D

I agree, mark, I think that maybe the schematic isn't what you're remembering. It's like 500x700 and almost unreadable on my computer. The layout is super high quality.

I used Marks layout/schematic and printed it out just fine.
The amp is good, but I like my JCM800 better which I also built. (These 2 amps are similar to me) but the JCM has more character
But everyone has different tastes.....

I think you can google the retro 50 layout and it might be a better, resolution?
Any ways good luck with it.

The layout is great, super high resolution. The schematic is almost unreadable from what I can see... I only see one schematic on the first page, but I may be looking at the wrong thing.
