Re: Favorite tremolo circuit
Just banging away on an amp, the Brown circuit seems the coolest. I tend to think of songs with trem that I like. I have no idea what the amps are:
Born On A Bayou
Gimme Shelter
Crimson & Clover/Crystal Blue Persuasion
Cuban Slide
Righteously (pretty sure it's a pedal)

Re: Favorite tremolo circuit
I have a brown Deluxe with a wonderful tremolo. It's the simplest of the browns, I believe the brown Concert has the most complex tremelo but I've not heard one.

I had a great sounding brown face Vibrolux...

Re: Favorite tremolo circuit
The best reverb I ever heard was a Brown Deluxe as well. But I think there is more than one Brown Deluxe circuit if I remember correctly. David, is yours a 6G3. The Concert amp circuit seems a little overkill! I will probably try the Tremolux circuit first. Thanks

Re: Favorite tremolo circuit
txbluesboy, yes, my Deluxe is a '62 6G3. I'm not aware there was any other brown Deluxe circuit. The earlier ones with the pinkish brown tolex may have had a component or two that were different, but I believe the circuit was the same.
BTW, you meant tremelo, but you said reverb! I do have a '62 6G15 reverb too, and both of them with the tremelo on are like time travel!

Yes, tremelo. Sorry, all these 100 degree plus days must be getting to me. Thanks

This right here. The vibrato and stereo...it melts my mind to be standing between the speakers jamming out!Cygnus X1 wrote:Magnatone stereo!

Magnatone M14 into two marshall 4x12s is psychedelic. A total ratnest of an amp with a crap power supply. Looked like someone's luggage from the 60s.

Re: Favorite tremolo circuit
I restored a Panametric (Sano) accordian amp for a buddy who used it for guitar. Very similar to Magnatone. It wasn't very loud for it's size and output tubes but the tremeo was magical. Very three-dimensional.
JMTC, regardless of how it is accomplished, ultimately it is the waveform and whether the trem chops off abruptly or has a smooth transition or something in between. The other part of the Mojo for me is learning to play in time with the tremelo to catch the same part of the transition on every beat.
