Rocket-ish newbie question

Post by stevlech »

I'm making an AC30/Rocket type amp and everything checks out well in terms of heaters, and AC. However, when I plug in the 5AR4, the fuse blows. I can't find a short anywhere, so what else could it be?

I'm assuming you checked the 5AR4 already. Phil

Assuming you've checked the 5AR4, I'd start by disconnecting the B+ line from the tube socket. If the fuse still blows, it's got to be the tube, socket or xformer.

Good for you. It's nice to fix an amp, isn't it... :)

I appreciate the encouragement. :) Maybe next time my mistakes won't cost me a tube... oh well. btw- the guy I built it for says it sounds awesome. It's essentially the schem from the files section w/o the cathode follower.
