Transformer identification required

Post by milkyBK370 »

Hi folks, a firend of mine who demos guitars for PRS has been given a PRS HXDA Amp. It's currently wired for US voltage so he hasn't even plugged it in yet. I was wondering if PRS used a PT with other primary taps including 240v. The chassis is pretty crammed and he hasn't been able to get me a close enough photo.

I have attached a pic of the PT part numbers. Any clues who the manufacturer is? I know the OT is by Cinemag as this is well documented online but I can't find anything about the PT.

He might end up just buying a step down transformer. Any recommendations on that one would be appreciated.

He also asked about installing an FX loop. Not such a great idea but if that's what he wants, I'll do it. I was thinking that the MetroAmp Zero Loss FX Loop would graft into this amp quite easily. Any thought on that?

Which amp is that and is it one that Doug Sewell built?

Looks like it is the 25th Anniversary model.

I'd like to see how the Wattage control is implemented.

Hey guys.

I'll send a quick email to Heyboer and see how I get on.

My mate was actually given this amp by Paul Reed Smith himself after recording an album at Paul's home studio. Cool, huh?

The amp is called the HXDA. It's a custom shop version of the 25th Anniversary model. HX = Hendrix, DA = Duane Allman. I'll try and get some more pics.

Thanks

Very nice amp.

I find myself watching this Nicky Moroch youtube video over and over love that tone he gets with the PRS Super Dallas.
