Sorry, I won't cut you any slack, I hold my friends to a higher standard than random fucking strangers.

What guitarist do you think is more influential than Hendrix?

Well Tom Smothers comes to mind he could strum without looking at his hand.

Robert Johnson was good, but he didn't do Machine Gun or reinterpret the Star Spangled Banner.

If stuck on a desert island, I'd still choose Hendrix over Robert Johnson.

Love Jimi Hendrix, wasn't ever exited about Clapton but Alvin Lee was damn good to listen to.

OK
I still space off listening to Electric Ladyland - way ahead of it's time.
Regardless the speakers. Pulsonic cones & resonant bells aside...
Jeff Beck has some great skills. Ronson & Gilmore too.
Buchanan & SRV both brought something special.
They all had their mentors.
Steve Hillage is also a personal favorite.
Gifted players can make mediocre amplification sound great.
I can personally make great amplification sound mediocre.
On a good day.

I agree with Mark on Clapton. As far as most influential though, he probably caused more accountants to quit their day jobs in the 90s than anyone else.

Good and influential run separate paths. :)

The Experience is awesome. Gypsys were not as much.

What complete rubbish, do you expect people to take you seriously after statements like that, how do you come that conclusion, because something must be shot, either your ears or brain or both.
Cut the trolling and stick to amps.
Yes, I do expect people to take me seriously after that. They can trust that I give an honest opinion.

I produce records. I have been playing since Hendrix was alive, and whatever. I have seen stuff that I can't deny. You only hear the parts you want to.
This is a joke, right? Come on, stop it. Nobody who wasn't pulling our legs would write this stuff on here  Stop it, I'm spilling my tea over here.
"I have been playing since Hendrix was alive" I might just steal that for my sig if you don't mind :D

Bull! You're backtracking now.
Come on dude, spell it out if you want to regain some credibility.

My honest opinion: you are a "post for effect" troll with little to add to the party.

This is a speaker discussion, yet you felt the need to put down one of the greatest guitarists of all time. How does that help anyone or enhance the discussion?

That is a "post for effect" troll.

Well that is true, for blues.

Thing is, Hendrix was so much more than that, wasn't he?

Robert Johnson influenced the people who influenced the people who influenced us. The tree grows from there. There are others, but only that one sits at the base.

You really took what I said as what you wanted to hear. You missed the part about people not being able to cop his thing. (Think about what that means) You missed the meaning when you picked a part. Seriously. :)

Our perception and memories need bounds. I deal with this on a moment to moment basis every day of my life.

Influential doesn't mean technically excellent. Technical excellence doesn't denote a wonderful performance.

This is what I think about Jimi Hendrix:

Go ahead. Cop that. ;)

I feel obligated to ask, as I am uniformed on this. I am told the Chinese are experts at building things to whatever spec is provided, cheap or expensive. What is the concern about PRC manufacture (politics aside, please)? As an example, we see very elegant and well produced Apple products that originate in PRC (and they arrive 2 days after the order date -- faster than domestic postal service.)
I was just wondering if they were going to be $130 or $200. I haven't followed new Celestion in a while, there was a while ~2003 were you couldn't tell what they made where (intentional? illegal?) but I guess all the new UK ones are labeled Heritage models. I'm glad they made the creamback but I don't buy new Celestions anyway, I look for used regular pre 2002 UK modles. My bitch isn't quality it's if Emi and WGS can manufacture (I believe they actually assemble w/ Chinese parts, so parts must be shipped here too, an added cost) a quality equivalent speaker for ~$70 in the US, then PRC Celestions should be $35 - unless workers in KY are now also making $5/day. At this point I have nothing much to say about jobs going overseas, they're gone and if they ever come back it'll be on Chinese terms, but what do I get out of it? At least if I got $35 Creambacks out of I could rock out cheap watching the American dream fade away - might even wave me a Chinese flag. Plus I'm a geezer now, allow me my prejudices when it comes to guitars, amps, speakers, and dress shoes - and oh yeah, milk powder.

Word! I buy 800 era cabs with 65 or 75s for cheap, gut them for spares, then I sell the blank cabs.
