fx pedal potentiometer with built in on/off

Post by wsaraceni »

looking to build my first two fx pedals. the pigeon fx fuzz and treble booster circuits. thinking of building them with battery and power plug, but mostly using the battery so i want to use one of the pots that when you turn the volume to zero it turns the unit off. similar to the analogman pots. anyone know what they are?

a common trick in fx pedals is to use a stereo input jack, connect the battery ground to the unused terminal and when the input plug is removed this disconnects the battery supply

not a direct answer to your question but this is how i deal with this sitch

be careful, its addicting :D

There are pots that have pushpull switch contacts.

I know the stereo input jack is an option but the analog man is way better. I guess its similar to the volume on an old champ. Not a push pull either

All the old radios of my childhood had those volume pots with on/off switch integrated. Very nice. Maybe you can use something salvaged from an old radio.

I accidentally noticed this the other day: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdet ... er=023-600 (sorry, I haven't figured out how to shorten the url's in embedded links).

I'm sure there are others out there. Probably depends what value you need, but I would agree that the standard is the switched input jack as Bangor said.

Good luck!
