Turret Board Source - Wellborne labs not reliable

Post by bueller »

Does anyone have a good source for pre-fabbed fiberglass turret boards? The generic kind 1.5" or 3" wide with the evenly spaced posts. I was using Wellborne labs for the last year but the last order I placed 4 months ago hasn't shown up and they refuse to answer my calls or E-mails even though they have my money and I'm a repeat customer. I made my own in a pinch but it's easier to use the pre-fab stuff.

Thank you. Nice selection including some larger pieces.

After googling Welborne I found out many more people are having the same issue with Ron Welborne and bad service, not getting deliveries, etc.

Ken at Turretboards is a first-rate guy. They have inventory the website doesn't show, like transformers, so ask if you don't see something.

Also, if you ask, he can alter the spacings on the boards for you. I have him do custom spacing sometimes. He'll also do a whole custom board for you if you send him the post locations on a diagram. There's a reasonable setup fee, like $15 or so, then the board is priced like the others according to size.

Love that big Hiwatt board with 43 turret pairs! Use it all the time, in my own designs. Glossy black really shows off the components!

Lots of positive responses. Thanks. I placed an order with Ken this weekend for three of the Hiwatt boards.

I still haven't recieved my boards from Welborne, placed the order in early December 2006. Guess I have to contact the Visa Lawyers to go after them to get my money back.

Hi everyone

I know I'm new here, but I got my board and components from Ken at www.turretboards.com for my first build---a Matchless Lightning. It was first rate, "I'm going to make you feel like you were my only customer today," kind of service. I couldn't identify some of my resistors, so he sent me new ones free of charge and shipping.

I got my order about two weeks after placing it.
