6L6 amp donor?

Post by darefugee »

I've been building some nice clones and custom amps based on the Hammond AO-29 transformer set, both 6V6 and EL84 amps. Now I want to build a 2 x 6L6 push-pull. If you were doing this, what organ or other old-stock source would you be looking for, for your transformers?
Thanks,

Roger

There are too many models to list, but tube organs are in many cases free and a great source for transformers and a few other parts.

Not just Hammond, but Baldwin, Lowrey and so on. Scour CL's "free" category. I've found a few of them that way.

I've used a couple of the Bogen HE10 for 50W purpose. Octal preamps and hefty iron. For eBay browsing purposes, they are green, and quite similar to this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Bogen-J ... 19f314d3a9. ....though even only a couple of years ago you could find these for $50

These companies deal with old-stock parts? That's news to me, thanks!

Thanks Smokebreak. This will help, I'll keep my eyes open for these Bogens.

No they don't. I misunderstood the OPs question.

What about asking triad if they've got any NOS?
