Is Westlabs still in business?

Post by 2busy »

Mates,
as subject says, have you any clue regarding the company, if it is still open and if they keep selling matchless trannies?
I tried to reach Dave at his email but I got bounced a delivery error.

Thanks a lot for your replies.

And for that matter whatever happened to TDS they appear gone from ebay and the web? The owner used to post here some time back too. Too bad if they're both gone, though West's iron had gotten way too expensive, almost cheaper to buy a used Matchless, at least the 2XEL84 varieties.

I've also tried to reach Dave a few weeks ago and haven't heard back. I think he's in his 70's now so I'm sure the business is closed.

I hope he's healthy, otherwise shutting down for whatever reason is all well and good but at least keep a single web page up with a goodbye/thank you message for a couple months. Wish I'd built that DC30 I always day dreamed about.

BAH! I don't wanna join facebook. More and more sites are doing this however or are limiting access to social logins only, guess it's time to set up a fake facebook account for stuff like this. The internet is becoming a bother.

Looks like the website just went off the air. He should have left a message pointing to facebook or a redirect. I think hosters let you do this for a while at no cost. Anyone on facebook who's checked the facebook page out? Is the store still there?

It seems like he could be having some big problems...

GET WELL DAVE WEST!

Peter Cavanaugh
Dave West played a prominent role in supporting and promoting Flint area musicians during the early days of Michigan Rock & Roll and was particularly involved in our Sherwood Forest concerts. Dave is best known as the inventor and developer of West Amplifiers, building and maintaining equipment for Grand Funk Railroad, which they used exclusively for many years, and supplying heavy duty sound systems for almost all of the major Michigan bands, including Bob Seger, Dick Wagner, Alice Cooper and the like, as well as dozens of local “baby bands” just getting it together.

Dave is now convalescing at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing after eight weeks of harrowing health challenges, including necessary amputation of his right leg below the knee, and major complications from a severe arthritic condition, as well as other issues.

Sad news, in my dealings with him he was always extremely helpful. And, anyone that helped Michigan rock deserves note. Best wishes and a fast recovery.
