Looks like there is some real potencial there, and it's about time with the printer technology we have to day!

Is this really a tube (Glass Vacuum Metal) or just some sort of ss circuit that acts like a tube with a little plastic window? They need to work on a power tube version, that's where the real mojo is.

The article says it's a real vacuum tube.

Yes, but that is from the PR department. I'll all for it, hopes it meets the criteria of a tube, I like innovation. And, I don't really care if it sounds like a '67 Plexi, I hope it sounds like nothing I've ever heard before.

I found it a little odd that the description included mention of an anode, a grid and a filament...but...no mention of a cathode.

Wow maybe we're back to directly-heated cathode, iow filament & cathode are one and the same. How primitive, maybe that's the secret to awesome tone.

Ah...ha! Totally forgot that that configuration could serve the purpose!
Thanks much,

Toob snobs will find an unlimited number of reasons why it doesn't sound the same.

Nutube looks like a trademark infringement?

They claim it is compact and 30% smaller than a conventional vacuum tube. Doesn't look that way from the pic.

No datasheet anywhere that I can find. Appears to be a lot of marketing behind this product at the moment.
Electronic equipment is designed using facts and mathematics, not opinion and dogma.

Looks more like an IC to me. If they are replacing the vacuum with a low voltage ionizing gas (as in fluorescent displays), maybe there's something to it. Made in Japan has to be a positive, but....

.....So far I see no data sheet, no technical info, just MBA bulls**t.

To me it looks like there are ten leads (group of three, group of four and group of three). So, maybe more than one triode per package.

Marketing folks don't know diddly. It is possible they forgot about the cathode. I saw 10 leads also and was thinking about it. Maybe this is a dual triode with anode, grid, cathode and 2 heater wires, x2 for the pair. That means you can leave an unused triode unheated? Awww.....never mind, I'm just making this up.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love to play around with a 1/2 dozen of 'em. Assuming there were data sheets.
