Smokin' Joe or mystery amp

Post by Aurora »

I bought a 2xEL84 -2x12AX7 amp from a guy, mostly to use as parts, as it has a huge Edcor OT and a MM PT. I just got the amp, and it is marked Smokin' Joe.......
I also got a schematic, which is similar to the Joe schemo I find, except this is cascoded with a HV mosfet at the secod stage , and has another mosfet as follower before the PI.....
Anyone know anything about this ???
The amp is actually working, even my intention was to use it as parts...

Check out Weber Speakers web site they had a kit by that name with similar topology. You should be able to get schematic and layout off the site.

Don't know much about it but I believe tried the cascode front end ala SJ and didn't care for it but that's been several years ago and I don't remember the details
