Switched accessory outlet on silver faced twin.

Post by dragonbat13 »

Does anybody know of a link to some details on converting the accessory outlet on the back of a twin so that it will be switched in tandem with the amp? I want my pedal board to power up when I turn on my amp.

Should be easy. Post a picture of the inside of the back panel showing the incoming power cable, accessory outlet, fuse and AC power switch.

I'd think you'd do something like this, cut at my red x and run a dark blue wire from the power line that enters there, over to the power switch, and then return the blue line from there as well back to the plug hookup, also you'll likely do best to just remove it completely, useless with common 3 prong power.

Nice, Steve. The only change I might make is to take the hot lead from the accessory socket directly to the fuse center lug, and connect the ground switch to the fuse side terminal. That way if the ground cap shorts the fuse will open.

Ive got a few things I need to do to this twin involving the power circuit while I am in there. I guess I will start a new thread when I open it later this week. Whoever put the old three prong wire in, left the death cap. So I really need to get some advice to get this thing safe also.

Thanks for the replies.

Nothing wrong with having the cap connected, as long as it's the correct type.
