A wavy board is the result of moisture absorption, which causes the board to expand. It also causes them to become somewhat conductive, which can upset the circuit operation. This is a common problem in old Fenders and others that used similar fiberboard material for their eyelet boards.

I have a Fender Bassman with a board so wavy that if you reduce yourself down to HO scale ( 1/87) you could surf on on it!!
