Two Rock Classic Reverb, Reverb EQ Switch possible for AB763 circuits?

Post by edwinstar »

Hi! The older TR Classic Reverbs had a switch that let you tailor the Reverb return EQ. It had three positions dark/mellow/bright. I really liked this feature and would love to apply it to my recent AB763 Amps (Vibroverb, Deluxe Reverb). Do you have an idea how to do this? Thanks a lot!

Reverb tone control has been done by placing a Tweed Deluxe-type one-knob tone control on the reverb recover stage output. You could do that, and substitute an on-on-on switch and two or three resistors for the pot.

Or perhaps a few capacitors similarly switched setting the filter frequency and a pot to adjust the depth.

The version using a pot has been done, and it works fine. Here's how I'd do it using a switch.

In the TR photos, which switch is the reverb tone? For your AB763, I'd wire up the tweed tone control with a 1M pot, and maybe try a couple of different cap values as well. Then you could select preferred resistor and cap values for a switched solution.

That's actually the same suggestion (Tweed Deluxe tone control, with the volume pot flipped around the right way). I just replaced the pot with a three-position switch above.
