Enabling SSL- potential short outage
I'm trying to get SSL enabled with the hosting company as Google is going to make chrome throw warnings about non ssl enabled sites. There may be a short outage for a few hours while they update something with the sites address etc.

Re: Enabling SSL- potential short outage
and it looks like it's back. I highly recommend everyone start using the new ssl version, more secure, your password is protected, etc.

if you cant remember that, just:
https://www.ampgarage.com/
or
https://ampgarage.com
and it will 'redirect' you automatically

ahh no, it seems the 'redirect' just takes you back to the http site. I'll fix that later, for now, just everyone confirm for me that:
https://ampgarage.com/forum
works and stays secure and doesn't throw up some warning in your browser. If so , I'll shut off the non secure side and redirect to secure.

Re: Enabling SSL- potential short outage
Phil, if you like I can give you a Rewrite Rule Script for a htaccess-file.
For my websites its works perfect. If you type ”http:…”, or only ”www. ampg…” or only ampgarage.com, it alwas give you a ”https://www.ampgarage.com” in the browser-URL-field.
Should work well with apache-servers.

Re: Enabling SSL- potential short outage
Klaus, thanks for the offer, I'm a systems engineer with a long history of linux, so I'm good
There's currently a rewrite rule already there in the .htaccess to rewrite
www.ampgarage.com to ampgarage.com/forum
and
ampgarage.com to ampgarage.com/forum
as is.

Thanks for the offer of help, it's not fun keeping the lights on
I'm glad it is still working for me and others, let me know if anyone has any issues with the secure site.

Re: Enabling SSL- potential short outage
I've done the rewrite since it seems to be doing well for me so far.
Now everyone will be forcibly re-sent to the ssl site.
Enjoy.
I'll leave this here for a short while in case people get confused and have questions etc.

Re: Enabling SSL- potential short outage
Thanks to you and the owners for the SSL upgrade, it's comforting to know that we are all a little more protected in this day and age.
I'm pretty sure if it wasn't for your work and perseverance.this site would have ended up on the scrap heap, instead it has gone forward and flourished.
I'm sure all the members appreciate your efforts in rescuing TAG - thanks again from Over The Pond
