7-pin creatures

Post by Andy Le Blanc »

I had a good haul from a junk pile find. It is about a bushel of ham/CB 7 pin mini, mostly RF pentodes and pentagrid and other various bench remains.
And, a practical pile of AF tubes. I'm looking to rig a small combo using the following ,...6at6---6j6---6aq5. 6at6 is a single triode 6sl7, with an
amplification factor of 70. 6j6 is a medium mu, twin triode, single cathode with an amplification factor of 38 ( phase inverter ). And,.. 6aq5, mini equivalent of 6v6.

Two questions come up:

Will the 6j6 provide enough gain as a paraphase inverter to drive the power side to clip?

What practical voltage limitations are there when dealing with the small envelope devices?

The 6aq5 come in below 300v,... RCA states 275v max and 14w tot. plate and screen dissipation.

Experiences?

cheers
