Sporadic relay failure anyone?

Post by ChopSauce »

Not 100% amp related, but: did anyone here experienced relays randomly not switching - especially when hot?

A subsidiary question, maybe: could intermittent failures such as the above be related to programmable devices such as processors/controllers?
(in extenso: the controller of the sporadicly operating relay)

if the controller has not enough current to drive the relay directly it is really possible to have malfunctioning.
In my experience it is always better to activate the relay via a transistor or fet, which is turned on by the controller.

So you suggest a (transistor) third suspect?

Well, I'm not 100% sure, but the unit seems to be (very) well designed so the question remains to know which component is the most likely to "erratically" malfunction... :?

... thank you very much for your consideration, though... 8)
