Hmm, in looking at some of the specifications....not even close. Marshall 18W transformers are not 7.5k into 8R only. Sure, you can build a roughly 18W amp with it, but don't call it a Marshall 18W output transformer. Their version of the Dynaco A-470 is 5k5. Nope.

Interesting that their two standard Fender choke models are more expensive than their much higher current rated Marshall model.

There are lots of others too, spot checking across the range. Quite a few OTs with the wrong primary impedance and PTs with the wrong HT secondary voltage.

Man are their listings all screwed up!!

Interesting is not the proper usage of the word here!!

Their Fender proreverb OT has a drawn schematic showing a 8 ohm secondary, and the printed info has the correct 4 ohm labeling.

I wonder which one comes out of the box when you buy it?

Also this OT looks under mass, as the Proreverb uses the same fully encased OT as the BF and early SF Bandmaster.

While the observations of our members is of great interest, is anyone going to contact them to ask for "clarification?" We just lost one transformer maker. I suggest it is not in our collective best interest to simply pile on. It would be better to do something constructive. I'd do it, but I don't know enough.

Phil - that's a good idea. Just a few days ago there was a post here stating that Apex Jr. was gone. I called Steve and he assured me he was still in business and supplying wire and other audio parts, so I asked him to let everyone know he was still in business to nip the rumors in the bud.

Back in 2014, Dave Thomas, son of Pat Thomas of Pacific Transformers, stirred up a bit of fuss here with his marketing of transformers directly to the community.

A web search does not show any activity on his "RockingClass" FB page or elsewhere, and I'm not sure if PacTrans has anyone who is really making sure proper specs are followed or listed for their guitar amp lineup, so it would be good to check with them, and perhaps help them make their listings accurate. It would be great if PacTrans could help fill the void!

Cheers,

Greg

Calamity.

Ok. Which one of you is going to start mass producing transformers?

I need three sets. I need them yesterday.

I will make them for you only, Miles.

I reached out and I received this :

“The 6.6kOhm is not the authentic impedance for the 30W trainwreck output transformer.
I tested the impedance ratio for PAM-OT-30-54R and we get an average 7.5kOhm.”
