Kustom Defender V50

Post by Yoda »

Hello all,

I received a Kustom Defender V50 amp with a defective lead mode and I’m having a tough time finding schematics for this amp online. Anybody have a source?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you, but unfortunately that is not the same amp as the V50. I’m starting to think this isn’t meant to be serviceable.

Have you emailed Kustom? That amp is recent enough It might be worth a shot. Also, take some pictures of the PCB and wiring. We can probably collectively figure out what's going on. Channel switching usually isn't too mind blowing when it's done on the cheap.

I already sent an e-mail requesting schematics for the V50 however I expect them to deny the request. I’ll post pictures later when I have some time to take the amp apart.

After cleaning the footswitch jacks as well as the toggle switch for channel switching with DeOxit I can no longer replicate the problem so I’m hoping that is all it will need.

Here are some gut shots. Not an amp I’d like to work on if I can avoid it:

At work I have a lot of high end new gear with push button switches come back within weeks of being sold with noisy and or intermittent problems.

Many of these I have to cut or melt open the plastic at the end of there case to clean/ flush and lube them up.

Some of these switches due to there many connections and the wave soldering used on the boards distort in shape from what is ideal for having good internal connections.
