Tweed Deluxe
Decided to build a 5E3 for an all around amp.
After decades of designing to eliminate interaction I am embracing it here. I want to find the variety of tones by manipulating the three controls.
Not strictly a 5E3 though as I will reduce a few Ck values, and add some grid stoppers.
Tallish small cab w/ 2x10" speakers to help those lows.

Re: Tweed Deluxe
Looking forward to seeing your layout. I like the one tube near the inputs and pots and the other near the power tubes.
Re: Tweed Deluxe
The best way. Lining up tubes in a back row makes it easy for manufacture but makes little sense otherwise. The deluxe is a simple circuit with a minimum of parts. Following the transformer headphone procedure and using a layout to minimize noise and interaction is fairly easy. I'll post photos and show the layout as it's refined. Here's an image of the finished chassis and new knobs.

Re: Tweed Deluxe
Chassis finished.
All the tweedy interactive funkyness is present.
The NOS Sylvania 6V6's are at 105% and 96% dissipation. Noise is low. At 1 meter, no input, max volume the A weighted noise is 44dBa, the figure from the room dead quiet is 37dBa.
LOUDthud, here's an ugly gutshot, the layout will likely be useless as I use a point to point scheme. (Some cleanup is needed for hastily applied parts while changing values.) Now to build the cabinet. I'm still going with a 2x10" speaker combo cabinet.
That will take a while as I'm stuck in an ortho boot for a while and woodworking is too hard in my small laundry room/ woodshop.
After touching up two solder joints and some component value changes it sounds great. A little bassy still, so I might trim Ck values further. All the tweedy interactive funkyness is present.

Re: Tweed Deluxe
The topside layout reminds me of the classic Sunn layout.
Re: Tweed Deluxe
Decided to implement my 2x10 more horizontal than planned. All wood is dimensioned so glueup can proceed. Just have to fine tune the baffle and do the cleanup.

Re: Tweed Deluxe
A little progress here. Too many amp and guitar builds at once to make fast progress.
Testing some alignments here. The chassis is done but much more work remains on the cab.

Re: Tweed Deluxe
Looks great! Very nicely done. Cool styling.
Re: Tweed Deluxe
Very nice, I dig the asymmetry.
Re: Tweed Deluxe
Thanx Gents,
There are a few more aesthetic details to install but cab refining and cleanup must happen first.
The asymmetry is necessary to optimize space in the storage compartment. It's
7"x 6.25"x 6.25" deep.
