BEST 7189/EL84's To Take Serious Heat.....

Post by zozoe »

Greetings.... I've got some real hot 'n nasty amps that roast power tubes; Mesa, Budda, Vox, & Morgan, and I need a great sounding & heat/voltage handling set of tubes.... I recently read about some Preffered Series 7189's that can handle 400+v, and want to know what else is out there that might also be an all-around winner....
Sound, Durability, & won't crap out from the heat. Many thanks~

For the others, not so much details to comment.. you dont have EL84 good tubes nowadays to handle 400V + voltages, it is mostly bad amp design...EL84 is specified for 300V.. "designers" pushing to 400V.

But maybe 6P14P-EV, or NOS 7189

Put in a small, quiet fan. Any active air movement cools tubes a lot.

The Preferred Series 7189 is a Reflector 6P14P-EV. You can read it on the tube when you view the video of them on their site.
