I believe 100ohm is the standard value for heater ground reference, not 1 ohm.
Wife: How many amps do you need?
Me: Just one more...

So connecting pin 9 on the 12AX7 to the heater wire on pin 7 (With the 100Ohm resistor) on the 6V6 just grounds the 12AX7 then?

The heaters on the 6V6 are on pins 2 & 7

So you have the wires going to pins (4 & 5) & 9 on the 12ax7 the to pins 2 & 7 on the 6v6.

They don't typically draw the heater wires on layouts because it gets too messy.

It is much better to run two wires to each tube then the old style of grounding one side.
Make sure the same wire goes to each tube, as in, the same wire should go to pins 4 & 5 of each preamp tube to keep the phasing correct and have less hum.

Yes that's the way I have it wired. I got pin 2 on the 6v6 wired to pin 4 & 5 on the 12ax7 and pin 7 on the 6v6 wired to pin 9 on the 6v6.

So I guess the reason my tube blew up must have been something else. It was actually the Vibrato tube that blew up.
