Ground question from a non tech

looking at a revison A and a fender schematic I see the input jack is grounded via a 1.0 resistor. Does this help in reducing noise or something?

Do you mean the 1 M resistor to ground? This is used to reference the input grid to ground and is part of the biasing of the input triode.
