Now that the site has been fixed, we need to figure out how to take out the trash. There is no real moderation anymore.

That's right Martin. Firm and fast, before the spammers hackers and other lowlifes get a hold.
Now we are back on Google, the visibility of this site is raised and I noticed many more registrations taking place.
Are all of those amp enthusiasts? Looking at some links in the profiles, I doubt it.

Now everything is all prettied up again, we don't want it messed up!

I also noticed that when we log in, our log ins are unsecured so maybe it's time for an update to https SSL security so at least our log ins/details are safer? I'm sure Phil would be able to comment further on this possibility?

I'll enable a new kind of account sign up captcha, it requires a human answer a pretty obvious question, like "what is a fender" answers could be "a guitar" "an amp" etc. but if they don't have a human reasoning to put 2 and 2 together, they fail. Then it's just down to the people that pay humans 10c per signup to block.

That's great Phil, glad to see that you are so on the ball!
I am more worried about the lack of a secure connection.
This one costs $49 for a single site certificate, I'm sure a few of us would throw in $5 a piece to secure TAG even more.
Especially log in details.

Actually I know about a new service that's 100% free created by the EFF, I should see if I can sort out how to get that setup via this hosting provider.

Nuked.

I think we should maybe start a different thread on this type of thing so we don't derail this one.

This one has a bunch of good basic info.

I'm really surprised I haven't seen this one yet. One of the most useful pages on tube amps I've come across.

I was asked to update things here again, I deleted a ton of dead links, but searched for the content elsewhere if I could find it. Should be better now.

I have an entire Library of scanned, classic Vacuum Tube books. This includes Engineering Texts as well as articles from hobbyist magazines from the golden age of Tube Audio...and I can provide issues from the second Golden Age, (Platinum?) the 90's. As for beginners to Vacuum Tube technology there is nothing better than old Military training courses. I can share those as well. Just let me know.
