My luck has turned. This goes to show for every valley there is a hill.
I sold my 2004 mustang I had setting here, my hall amp, my hall cab, AND one of my portable amps.
Well noted on it's better to not be a slave to car payments. I was looking at the 2016 Ford focus for $16,000 brand new. That's a $270/m for 60 months. 3yr 30,000m factory warranty, 5yr 60,000m drive train warranty.
My thought was: Buy a new car, make the payments but don't have any real maintenance fees. When the car hits $60,000 it will be payed for and can be sold for roughly half price (condition dependant). That's $8,000ish to put down on a new car. Which means I have a higher probability of buying it outright or having a very short payment window.
In which I will be driving a new vehicle at all times and don't have to worry about any major maintenance. Well that's my thought at least.
WELL my car blew up

Glad you enjoy it! An old friend twigged me onto it a couple years back.stretch2011 wrote:Wow. That's one hell of a song leo. True and catchy!

Hey, lemme know how you get a used car to hit $60,000. I'll buy 'em by the gross. (I think everyone know you meant 60K miles, but I couldn't resist.)stretch2011 wrote: When the car hits $60,000 it will be payed for and can be sold for roughly half price...
I'd argue that you should look at market price for a clean 2 year old of the same model with 25K or less, where you can inherit the remaining warranty, etc. If you can buy it for under 70% of new, that's what I'd do. It has hardly anything shaved off the life span and you'll get to keep several thousand in your pocket. YMMV!
