The new tubeless Twin and Deluxe just changed everything. People like to play things that look classic without all the hassle.

These amps look and work the part.

Fender now has the path to win. If they continue releasing other models in the same price range based on the original amps.. no more floating debt on licensed Jimi Hendrix key fobs and shirts.

If they can get QC on these straight..

In other news, Marshall is done. That stuff sounds like pure shit.

Guess they didn't want Roland stealing all the "classic Fender" solid-state thunder. (the latest iteration of the Blues Cube amps - which sound VERY good.)

I have to say, I am intrigued... but not at that price. If I wanted one, I'd wait until there was a used market supply of them.

I wonder how they stack-up against a BOSS Katana, which is much cheaper and has a ton of high quality onboard effects.

Not impressed. If you're going to go digital (i.e. modeling) then you might as well go all the way. In this case, the only advantage over a real Twin or Deluxe is less weight and maybe better reliability. More efficient too, but who cares about that? That's assuming they actually sound as good as the real thing...

Went to see a old band The Outlaws last year.Very guitar power double lead drivin band.Wanted to see what they were using for amps and was disapointed.Its earley I cant think of the name of it right now but its a populer amp modeler sitting o there speaker cabs,Kemper thats it.Couldnt believe it.

And, in that video the Fender rep claims they are NOT modelling amps... the tone is in the actual circuit design.

But are they repairable?

If like any other modern SS amps, repairable, not so much. "Disposable" is the term that comes to mind.

They are dynamic impulse responses. The amp is captured, the trem is captured, the verb is captured.

If the amp lasts 10 years it would be better than a fair value for a guy who plays more than occasionally or for people who the weight constraints mean a lot..

That's what I do with Super Champ XD/X2 failures.

They make a GREAT platform for a single 12AX7 into self-split 6V6 designs using the existing iron.

Its funny how when I had my first ampeg stack,Two 4x12 cabs and I think the V4 head,never did heavy come to mind.I think at 16 I could pick up anything.In my search for good sound heavy was not a thought.That was the seventies.Every now or then was a show being played a half a mile away at a church.Blackfoot was playing and you could here the marshall stacks roaring and we would jump on our bikes a ride up and walk right in.I always got up as close as I could and just watch the guitar players.Good old days
