celestion Heritage Series G12-65

Post by Structo »

Who has the best prices on these speakers?

Around $180 is what I'm seeing but a lot of places are out of stock.
Some people say that this reissue doesn't sound good but aren't a few of you guys using them?
Thanks
Tom

I see a lot of guys using these now in their Dumble clones.

Right now I have a couple of those Warehouse clones in my 2x12 cab.
One V30 and a Classic Lead clone.
Couldn't pass up on these as I got them when the prices were ridiculously low.

But would the vintage 30 type speaker be a bit harsh with these amps?

Seeing as the 1265 speakers are around $180 x 2 = $360, would the tone improvement be that dramatic?
I'm not a rich guy so I would hate to lay out that kind of cash for something that isn't that big of a difference.

The original 1265 is just a higher wattage V30 correct?

So how are the reissue heritage line as far as tone goes?

Thanks.
Tom

Tonespotter or any, really...
I think they are all really good speakers...
I've got a Private Jack and a Tonker that i really like.
No Dumble but have a 5E3, 18TMB, Liverpool and Express.
Just a thought...

I did the same thing and I'm thrilled with the results. I compared to Scott's 12-65 and where it's difficult to tell because my amp was much brighter, it really held up well. I'm not changing these speakers out anytime soon.

I own a Fuchs TDS100 that was running into a PC 2x12 with EMI CR's that sounded amazing, but I put two vintage G12-65's instead and it really made the amp go from 10 to 11, LOL!

They are really great speakers for this amp, but may not fit every amp voicing. My T-Rex sounds better with the EMI CR's. My Mesa MKIII sounds better with EV12L's
