What can I say. I'm a fan. I sold the two Fender Modern Player Thinline Telecasters I had been gigging with for the past few years, and my Parker PM20, and my Epiphone Flying V, and bought a new Carvin, my fourth:
1990s Carvin DC custom. Birdseye fretboard, stainless frets, new bone nut by local luthier Mike Mace, new Hipshot Contour tremolo. It's a bit weird with no three- or five-way selector switch, but I quickly got used to the three toggles (I upgraded the bridge toggle to off/single coil/humbucker)--good tones. This is my only guitar with a floating tremolo.
Monkey is happy!

Re: NGD: Carvin #4!
Thats Awesome Aaron.... those stuffies look like they want to play it.
My son just bought a Charvel that kinda looks like that Carvin and has a similar pickup set up like yours. He leaves it here while he works up North in Churchill for 3 week stints, and I'm glad when he goes up there so I can play it...
Nice stuff Aaron...

Curious, did it look similar to this? If so, my son picked one up last winter and it's been awesome.

Yes that’s the one... my sons is sunburst...I’d take a picture but he just got back from up North and took it to his place
Re: NGD: Carvin #4!
Apologies to Aaron for following down the Charvel rabbit hole with my fellow northerner. Your new blue Carvin is very fine. Tempted occasionally by various Kiesel/Carvin guitars. This reignites that appetite, however ..

Re: NGD: Carvin #4!
Opinions on color aside (blueburst?), real nice guitar and I think the birdseye is exquisite. When I was much younger, I used to spend more time than I should have turning the pages of the Carvin catalog, dreaming of one that I couldn't afford. I'm showing my age. I'll bet there are lots of younger people who don't know what a catalog is, and that Carvin distributed one!
Re: NGD: Carvin #4!
I remember.
I thought it was damn cool to be order your own personal choices on a custom ordered guitar. I had built my “dream” guitar many times (In my imagination) while flipping through the pages of the Carvin catalog...
I never did place an order.

Re: NGD: Carvin #4!
I lusted after the natural LP copy on the cover of the '78 catalog (i think). And I wanted a natural maple SH225 when they came out.
Eventually i ordered the 60 Watt combo, a VT410, a 500W bass combo, and a 500W bass head from them, and got a used LB76F from fleabay.
I still want that old SH225!

The other great source for guitar porn was the Montgomery Wards catalogs from the early seventies. Tons of Italian guitars with too many pickups and switches, crazy body shapes, and colors galore. First time i saw a vomitburst finish.
