Not to distract from the *drool* goldtop, but, Julien. Saw him locally. To say he blew our minds was an understatement. The bit that stuck in my brain was his spider-like traversal of the fretboard in opposing directions simultaneously, with the most amazing, outside modes. Only wish he was more loquacious. He came on stage silently, played 90 minutes, said "thank you" and left. I forgive him. Supergenius.

yes, he's amazing isn't he :D I've been a big fan for a while. Love his acoustic duo albums with Chris Eldridge too. I missed him when he was in London last. Hopefully when the world returns to normal I'll get a chance to see him.

Dave,

I fell in love with this guitar  however having not worked properly for over 6 months and now having another 6 months of lockdown imposed makes the $40,000 price tag unrealistic

I was there doing an interview so I'l post a link when it comes on line  I did give a big shout out to TAG

Yikes, $40k is steep, but what a guitar! Looking forward to reading your interview.

Hello -

Agreed. Having seen your artful playing Marcus may I suggest you track down a '52, which would be priced for less than half that? Joe Glaser's bridge overcomes that mess of the trapeze and makes it entirely playable. For an example of one in action check out Keith Urban playing his.

Best .. Ian

I'm feeling bad about interrupting the 54/52 Les Paul discussion. I am slightly addicted to youtube -- sometimes the algorithm feeds me good stuff and sometimes not. I've been listening to Lexington Lab Band. This appears to be an experiment that was done in 2015-16. Apparently, there is an active music scene in Lexington, Kentucky. We're not talking about unruly kids in garage bands who have trouble tuning up. From all I can see, these are mature professionals who can read music and know how to work within an ensemble. The personnel rotate, but there are few core players. The basic model is this. They pick about 5 songs from very successful bands. They rehearse a number 2 or 3 times and then do a live take. This is no ordinary cover band. Some of the vids that I've seen -- aside from the visual aspect -- they have a talent for really nailing it. Some of what they do is just clean fun. Recently, I came across a Steely Dan set that was very well done. I'm reticent to criticize one of the guitar players on the Steely Dan set -- I thought he simplified some of the parts and in doing so, lost a bit of the feel. I'd rate Steely Dan material as some of the most difficult. FWIW, I feel like that guy deserves a pass -- he's a fine player. Look them up. Give them a listen. I think you'll enjoy this group of musicians.

Here's a band I've been digging, and with the recent thread on the benson amp, she's a benson player.

Dig her in many ways, great guitarist. She toured with Beck, then the Shins before moving to her own band "Deep Sea Diver".

A nice detour from what we are used to from our friend Robben Ford. Seems like Nashville has been working out for him.

Making my first trip to our new place in Prescott AZ today. Since I'm driving the 99 Explorer Sport...just AM/FM and a six disc CD changer.

Band Of Gypsy's
Great White Greatest Hits.
Led Zep IV
Sammy Hagar's GH
Pearl Jam 20 (they sent this to me years ago after buying a 4x12 cab)
SteppenWolf Live

I'm all over the rock and roll map today for a 6.5 hour drive.
