They seem very cheap and are stripped down balls to the wall approach to guitars.
I know they are made of ash which makes the weigh about 8 or 9lbs.
Has anyone bought one and what are your experiences?

No, but I was looking at them. Instead, I bought a Harley Benton TE-90. $266 shipped from Germany to CA in four days! After a quick setup and fret polish, it’s great! I ended up putting a 24.75” scale sapele neck on it, and have been playing it nonstop for two weeks.

That’s a cool looking guitar and a bit prettier than the Slick guitar. Though I do like the stripped down appeal of the Slick guitar. If you don’t need it, then it isn’t there.

Slick guitars are a good value, an economy I reckon is entirely negated by shipping them to Australia.
Ash isn't necessarily heavy Wood grows on trees. All trees are not created equal which can be a good thing or a bad thing.
I remember when buying a bridge or some pickups from the Mighty Mite catalog (circa late 1970s) cost more than an entire Slick guitar, not adjusted for inflation! Those old brass parts were expensive.

I believe in this and it's tested by research...

Too expensive with shipping. There are some Squier guitars out there that are quite cheap. I suspect it would be cheaper to ship them from the factory to Australia.

The design (& spirit) of these Slick guitars is just my kind.
Harley Benton guitars seem to be all pretty decent instruments, but not to Fender specs (size, shape, etc) at least for the two Tele-style guitars I've owned...
(nor are Gibson alikes reputed true to the real thing)
