Squier Strat coming home

Post by skyboltone »

Greetings All:
I traded one of my Accordions for a "Crafted in China" Squier Strat. I'm gonna put in CTS pots, a new jack and maybe a set of tuners. Anything else?

I love these Cheap guitar's, A Friend just picked up a Custom II with the P-90's, It needed the string's lowered at the nut and a good setup, It play's and sound's very good through his Delight now. I'm thinking about picking one up myself.
Enjoy,

this is what i do to my guitars...

I take them apart.

Steel wool the frets and neck.

Sand the body to wood, primer and apply home made bio dye and lacker.

Change p.u. for GFS Alnico 2. Sell the old ceramic p.u.

Dump the pots, switch and jack for goog ones...

Install Callaham block.

Cut the vibrato bar 1".

Install Spertzel lock tuners.

Put back together, set-up and intonate...

Shrinktubed for easy stap effect caper.

Black is before, Baby Blue is after...Log in to see the pics...

I have a lot of guitars for low greens...so i can build more amps...

Original cost for that 2001 Mexican was 250$ with case and Duncan rails and original ceramic p.u.

Sold the Rails for 120$ and M.I.M. p.u. for 50$

Spertzel were 80$
Callaham was 60$
Alnico 2 were 65$

sorry for not being clear guys...

I have used a black shrinktube as a guitar strap on this transformation.

Light and soft on the shoulder...

Not patented yet but...

For a real show-off look, one could line it up with Silver Conchos from http://www.buffalobrothers.net/ (not to be confused with http://www.buffalobrosguitars.com/archtops.html).

The Metal heads will prefer studs... :)

All in all a fun little project...good luck to all!
