tv talent

Post by Andy Le Blanc »

I had the opportunity to run sound for "Celtic Spring", that americas got talent act.
The crowds were nutz, packed houses, some SRO, four nights running.
Nice bunch of kids, family act and all that....
Amazing what a tv spot can do, holy cow.

I get Dave Carrol next week, the "united breaks guitars" guy, more fun...
See if fame on the interweb equals boob tube infamy.

Running... today is a pickup, Benoit Bourque, from Quebecois band La Bottine Souriante.
Juno Award... and all that...

Its crazy, the crowds for celtic spring were unreal, never seen the tv spot.
I did Darol Anger and had no clue either, the cello player had no teeth.
Didn't put 2+2 together until the MC said turtle island quartet, even after SC.

running....

It's funny but most the the artists you mention I have never heard of but then I rarily get out much. :D

I did get a chance to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra in 2005, Phoenix, AZ and enjoyed that especially the violin lady and great vocals from all.

I just had a walk in... had to rig a fuse holder in a concert... jeez

off to the gig... theres always So much going on, if you spend any sort of time on the computer
or watching tv your missing out on whats really going on. With pop sucking
the way it does, the mature audience is getting in the trad. LIVE.
the few living cultures still functioning in this consumer wasteland.

any way..... theres so much always going on. its great to discover .

running...

Andy,

I agree all I do is go to work come home and work at home, build amps or talk on the computer. I'm bad.

We have a great Blues Fest this weekend but once again I will gone working on a house. So your right its all out there for me to see but I fail to go to all the events.

I got him 5 nights starting on Aug. 2nd.

www.davecarrollmusic.com

Looks like he's an easy stage plot, 4 monitors, 4 mic, 4 DI. But you never know....
Ill have to get him to scribble across the back of my taylor 615 for giggles.

Last night with Benoit was fun, It was a pick up for everyone, brown bag skits,
trad, Quebecois and off the cuff, totally fresh... and a good head count for the hall.

Funny thing .... I've got a date coming where the presenter and the venue
owner hate each others guts, should be interesting to watch.

Dave is solid, voice, writing etc... The band is solid too...

but the interweb crowd is bashful....so far

the guitar had a "65", not a bad sounding rig, said that he had talk with the
builder about a extension cab, but the 16 ohm load is so essential to the tone
that he advised against it. Sounds and sounded like a intentional loading mismatch up.
