New version of DIY Layout Creator

Post by bancika »

Hi all,

you may have heard about my software, but just in case you haven't - I'm making a brand new version that will be able to draw schematics, pedal and amp layouts and guitar wiring diagrams. It's still not 100% done, but most of the functionality is there as well as many common components. I'm working on adding new ones.

Let me know if you think something's missing and would be useful to have. The address is http://diylc.org/ , the latest version is 3.0.5 beta (don't download 1.19, that's an old one).

Cheers,
Bane

if it's one of the newer ones, then yes. For some reason apple doesn't want to release java 6 for G5 :(

First time I have heard of this. My art skills are crappy, and so are my computer skills. This actually looks like something I can tolerate.
I would not know for certain, but it must have taken A Lot of effort to create this.....
Well Done
Thanks

in that case, it looks like it can tolerate you, not the other way round :D
and yeah, the first version took about a year to build, the second one slightly less and this one probably a couple of months and counting.
Cheers

Hello,

good work with the program, I like it. But I see on the website some screenshots of schematic capture, I can't seem to find the actual option in the program to do this. Could you help me?

those screenshots are from v2. This one doesn't have all that yet. I added capacitors and resistors, but that version will be released prolly next weekend (together with other additions).

Sounds great, I will definitely check it out. I used an earlier version for veroboard, it was really good. A version for an amp layout will be very helpful for doing one-off amps. Thank you!

FIY - I added tube sockets today along with several options in Config menu that are supposed to make work smoother and easier.

As always, you can find the latest version here http://code.google.com/p/diy-layout-cre ... loads/list

Hey, Bane

Thanks for the software..
I've checked the latest beta version. It creates layouts only, not the schematics right?

Also downloaded and installed v.1 from your site (I have Windows 7, 64-bit.) It starts with "No active document" Message box in a dead loop. Do you know what's the issue?

Regards,
Jack

yes I can't save, or if it is it's not going to the correct location. I can't find it when I reopen.

I'm also having a hard time finding the tube socket templates. I downloaded the program when the thread started. Do i need to uninstall and reinstall to get the new templates? or can they be imported another way?

I've spent a couple weeks working with the software and it's got a few things that I find frustrating.

Component orientation - it would be nice to be able to flip polarity
Can't save.
Can't import template files from the library
Can't turn off the grid
