Nice! I was feeling sorry for you because that young lady can sing a song with some feeling and I wasn't paying any attention to the instrument. Then I listened again and noticed how well she can play, and how good the mandolin sounds!

It was probably my friend Austin Clark, or maybe Lawrence Smart, although I don't think Lawrence had any octaves with him. I was supposed to be there but my car broke down the day before the drive. I've had tables there several times.

Octave mando is tuned an octave lower and has the scale to match.

Sarah's great, and can really rip when called apon. She makes anything sound good.
Scale length is 21 1/2 inches.

I first drafted it as flying V and then back pedaled. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who sees that. The reason I backed away from flying V is that is uses so little of the wood compared to a strat type body. I do not think I'd do the LP shape. You could always go with Jerry Garcia's custom Tiger or Wolf type body. They'd all look first rate.

Another scrap. This is just under 5ft tall. Lots of rat tail, and some nice quilting. I'll probably use it for the back of speaker cabinet, and matching amp panel.
