RIP Lady

Post by Structo »

We had to make a tough decision on Saturday.
Our Dalmatian, "Lady" has declined in health this past year.
She became stone deaf and virtually blind.
She was 15 years old but not really enjoying life anymore.

I always hate to have to make that call about ending their life.

I know there are a lot of dog owners here that love their dogs like they
are a member of the family.

Now she can go to doggy heaven and chase squirrels again like she used to love to do.

RIP Lady

I am so sorry, Tom.

I NEVER sob in front of strangers. Unless it's in front of the vet who euthanized my cat. They sent me flowers, that's how bad it was.

God bless and embrace the pain because it's proof that life is big.

Sorry for your loss Tom.
What a cutie! 15 years is a good age for a dog.

Thanks guys.
Fortunately we have three other dogs at home so we can love on them, takes a bit of the sting away.
So now we have Lillie the Rottweiler 8 years, Ginger the mini Dachshund 9 years and Shadow the mutt the newest at 2 years.
And Petey the cat.

Now if I can just keep the wife from bringing another dog home...

Lady was the fifth dog we have had to make that decision for in the last half dozen years.
Never gets any easier.

In this picture is Tanner the Italian Greyhound and Lady, both gone.

Tom, I'm so sorry to hear that news. 15 years is a great accomplishment for a pup though, I am sure you are very proud! I hope my little man Rocco lives forever. Good wishes to you and your wife during this hard time.

Tom, sorry for your loss. Been there, and it hurts. At least you have others to love on now that Lady is gone. Looks like she had a great life with you.

Deepest sympathy.
Simple pure love is very painfully missed.

I really love the dog orientation of this forum. It seems over the years that at least half a dozen of us have shared this same story. It helps. You are lucky too that you got other dogs at home to help you through the days and weeks ahead. Carry on man, 15 years is quite an accomplishment for a dog. And for it's owner

Really sad to hear the news Tom. She looked like quite a sweet, gentle dog. 15 years is long, full life. It just never gets any easier when the space they fill is suddenly empty, leaving silence in its place.

It seems like there's been a lot of personal loss on TAG this last year and each time I'm reminded of a lyric from a favorite Jethro Tull song:

"Life's a long song, but the tune ends too soon for us all".
