Post a guitar tune from the year you were born.

From 1959, Santos and Johnny Sleepwalk.

Here's the original, a version by Les Paul, and a version by Jeff Beck:

You'll have to look up online music, but

"The Things That I Used To Do" - Guitar Slim 1953.

good start, now how 'bout

"You Ain't Nothin' But A Hound Dog" Lieber & Stoller, Big Mama Thornton version. Recorded Aug 52, released Feb 53. Her version may not have so much featured guitar but many later versions did. Sort of got the ball rolling.

Always liked that song, since I was 3, heard the Elvis version & amused my parents by dancing to it every time it came on the radio. Which was about once an hour in 1956-57. Didn't hear the Thornton or Koko versions until much later & also didn't realize it was a Lieber & Stoller tune for a very long time. And of course as a kid I thought it was about Huckleberry Hound. Took a while to discern the original intent. Although, it puts a big laugh in me to play it thinkin' of Huckleberry....

I was tryin' to find which Jimmy Bryant & Speedy West tunes were '53, probably a lot, but can't find a year by year on them. Anybody not at all familiar with these two, you got some king size listenin' to do! Those guys tore it up somethin' fierce. Must find more.

But that's not all! Keep diggin' and you'll find

"Mystery Train" - Junior Parker version, on Sun and

"Crazy Man Crazy" - Bill Haley and the Comets.

And of course Rhubarb Red - Les Paul - was rippin' it up right about then.

The radio was on all the time. Still is.

53 was the year I started makin' noise. Haven't stopped yet! Ask my neighbors...

No. I think the skiffle apocalypse did something awful that year.

The Supremes Come See About Me was close. Diana Ross looks a little like a bass compared to how I remembered her. One eye on each side of her head. People used to look weird.
