Toaster Amp
There was a post some time ago that made quite a few of us fall in love and start bidding wars on ebay for the art deco Breakfaster toaster. Here is where someone built a computer into one:

Interest died down and I managed to snag one cheaply.
So have any of you done anything with yours yet? I'm thinking a grab and go three channel low power amp. I also thought about having it anodized. Maybe blue and lime green to celebrate the Seahawks win.
Here are pictures of mine. Definitely needs some buffing.

Re: Toaster Amp
I was able to snag 2 myself and decided to let some others go since bidding kept climbing.

Probably still cheaper than what it would cost to have them made today.M Fowler wrote:I was able to snag 2 myself and decided to let some others go since bidding kept climbing.

Re: Toaster Amp
Those are pretty snazzy. What brand is it? It looks kinda like a Model 55 Shure when you get up close where you can smell the spit. Trouble was we used one for the rhythm guy and the bass player to do the doo whop thing and you know bass players and their personal hygiene.

Same thing you have the art deco breakfaster toaster.
The picture below is what it used to look like.

Re: Toaster Amp
I'm thinking about making my two other breakfaster toasters into small 3w-5w amps rather then preamps.

Re: Toaster Amp
Are you going to stick a speaker in there? Is it solid enough to do that?

It is solidly built yes but I am not putting a speaker in it.

down technical blind alleys . . .
Re: Toaster Amp
You could anodize them, but a nice brass-bristled brush on drill or dremel would make those shine quite nicely. Run one of these with a 1-12 G12M or Scumback, and you'd have a real cool little amp.

Nuvite! Start with #7 move to "C" and finally "S". Shouldn't take more than a couple of hours to make it go mirror. If you have broken ribs make your kid do it.
